Helambu Trekking

Helambu lies north-east of Kathmandu valley is another popular trekking destination of Langtang region. Six days long trek start from Sundarijal ana end also Sundarijal. Sundarijal100km and 8 hour drive fron Kathmandu. Trek route passes through traditional, ethnic Tamang and Sherpa villages and Himalayan river-fed water reservoir for Small hydro electricity. This route offers you lovely views of Gauri Shanker (7,134m), Langtang Lirung (7,246m) and Ganesh Himal (7,405m), Dorje Lakpa (6,996m) and Ganja La.
The trail passes through untouched rhododendron forests and some rural gorgeous village such as Chisapani, Kutugsang Tharepati, Melamche and, Sermanthang. It is easy trek and The highest elevation of this trek is only 3597m in Tharepati so it is very easy trek in Langtang region
It is also cheapest trails compare to everest, annapurna and other trek. It is tea house (normal lodge) base trekking so you do not carry any food and camping equipment. If you are interested to camping trek it is also possible.

  Itinerary  

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu meet with us at the airport. Drive to hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu sightseeing
Half day visit of Kathmandu city and Swayambhunath. PM: Free, preparation for the trekking. O/N hotel.

Day 03: Kathmandu – Sundarijal – Chisapani
Drive to Sundarijal by bus/van/car & to start trek. You walk around two hours ascend through the lovely forest and you will reach at Burlang Bhanjyang which is the first view point of Himalayas. Burlang Bhanjyang is 2400m elevation. We can see from Annapurna to Gaurishankar from here. Then you descend for about half an hour to arrive Chisopani. Overnight at Tea house in Chisapani

Day 04: Chisapani – Kutugsang
We descend for about half an hour through some rice fields and small villages. Arrive Patibhanjyang and start gradual ascent through villages and forest. This walk from Patibhanjyang to Tharepati is one of the best ridge walks among the other treks in Nepal. Overnight at Tea house in Kutugsang

Day 05: Kutugsang – Tharepati
Gradual ascent through villages and rhododendron forest with magnificent views make you want to come back to Nepal again. Overnight at Tea house in Tharepati

Day 06: Tharepati - Melamche
Walk to the right and the slope the descends to Malamche, the first Sherpa village in the Helambhu area is a collection of neat houses fronted by prayer flags and surrounded by orchards and fields. Overnight at Tea house in Melamche

Day 07: Melamche - Sermanthang
The trail drops down to Melamchi Khola and climbs up to same heights to Tarkeghyang. There is a large restored Gompa here dating back to the early 18th century. Then walk to another interesting Sherpa village to Shermathang. Overnight at Tea house in Sermanthang

Day 08: Sermanthang - Melamchepul - Kathmandu
We now descent from the ridge through the villages, and forest. Arrive Melamchi Pul Bazaar at the bank of the Indrawati River and 4 hour drive to Kathmandu.

Day 09: Departure
